When We Were Kings

Me, We.

The 5th Saijo Clinic Cinematheque ended on 29th June.
This time, the film was a documentary focusing on the greatest, Mohammed Ali’s “Miracle of Kinshasa”.
There were four of us, and as always, the cineclub had an atmospheric sense of place.
“I learned that Ali is not just an athlete, but a charismatic person who says what he needs to say, whether it’s about his political beliefs or his criticism of racism, and who attracts people to him”.
“I knew Muhammad Ali but I had never seen him fight or talk about his ideas before”.
These were some of the comments made by those who attended.
Spike Lee says in the film, “People don’t know Muhammad Ali. There are only a handful of real heroes in every era. We should know more about real heroes”.
Indeed, Muhammad Ali was a man of principle.
The shortest poem in the world, which he sent to the graduates of Harvard University, is
“Me, We.” or “Me Whee!
I wonder which it is?
Both have their taste, don’t they?

The next show will be on 13th July at 8.30 pm. We are planning to make a social documentary.
It’s quite geeky, but if you’d like to join us, please do.
